Bolton Infants School

The Lord-Lieutenant Opens the new school

The Lord-Lieutenant opened Bolton School's new Infant building at the beginning of July 2010.  He spoke about the need to fulfil one's potential and to do the best one could throughout their lives so that they could contribute to the community.

Mr Smith explained that he was there in place of Her Majesty The Queen and was honoured to declare the new school officially open.  He was invited to draw the curtain to unveil a plaque as a commemoration of his visit by the Head Mistress.

The day had a double importance for the Lord-Lieutenant who was celebrating his birthday! Two of the young children brought in a birthday cake with candles and invited Mr Smith to blow them out whilst the school sang 'Happy Birthday'.  Very kindly the company of Park Cakes, Bolton had provided enough cake for every child so that everyone could join in the celebration.

Joining the Lord-Lieutenant on the day by Mrs Laura Nuttall DL who has a granddaughter at the school.
