Baroness Morris of Bolton, seen on the left, the deputy Speaker of the House of Lords, was declared the first Chancellor at the University of Bolton in a ceremony watched by hundreds of new graduands,
friends and colleagues from the Lieutenancy. Lady Morris said: 'I am overwhelmed and so proud to hold this position'. Before officially declaring Lady Morris as the university’s chancellor, the vice chancellor, Dr George Holmes, awarded her two honorary doctorates in philosophy and law.
Others from the Lieutenancy were also honoured for their services to the
county. Norman Stoller, George Almond and Anil Ruia all received Honorary Doctorates; last year saw the first such honour awarded to Edith Conn who received an honorary Doctorate for her services to the Voluntary sector.
