In March the Vice Lord-Lieutenant, Mr Michael Oglesby, welcomed HRH The Duke of York to our County. His Royal Highness' visited four venues in his role as Ambassador for Trade and Industry which began with a business luinch at the Institute of Director where he met with 20 business poeple from around the county. To the left HRH can be seen talking to a second year student at the University of Manchester's Dalton Institute in the Schuster Building. HRH also visited Parsons Brinckerhoff on Oxford Road wherte he met many senior engineers and heard of the work PB are doing around the world. The final venue of the day saw HRH officially opening the new eco friendly Tesco store in Cheetham Hill, Manchester. More can be seen below. |

At the beginning of July HRH The Earl of Wessex visited the Bridgewater Hall to listen to the end year concert given by Chetham's School of Music at the now famous city centre venue.Prince William

In July HRH Prince William visited the Manchester Aquatics Centre to watch the Women's World Water Polo Championships and to meet both the Great Britain and Slovakia Teams. The Great Britain were victorious on that occasion and went on to win the tournament.
At the end of July HRH The Princess Royal visited three venues in Greater Manchester. HRH opened the new Panda Unit at Salford Royal Hosital. visited the Brain and Spinal Injury Centre (BASIC) in Salford before moving on to open the scientific facility of UKBiobank in Stockport.
Her Majesty The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh visited the County in May and spent the day visiting the Heinz Factory at Kitt Green before moving on to the new Leigh Sport Village where she opened the Stadium.
