THRH The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall
In February the Lord-Lieutenant welcomed the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall to the county for a very full day that included seven engagements beginning at the Museum of Science and Industry and ending with the Duchess visiting Canon Burrows School in Ashton-under-lyne and Prince Charles spending time with the Sufi community at Old Trafford.
HRH Princess Alexandra
Princess Alexandra visited Greater Manchester in May and spent time with the Guide Dogs for the Blind and at Bolton Royal Hospital. The new building in Atherton, and some very enthusiastic dogs, made for an interesting and enjoyable visit and at the hospital the Princess witnessed some of the remarkable technology that brings new hope to those suffering with age-related Macular Degeneration.
HRH The Princess Royal
Princess Anne visit Bolton in July of this year as part of her role as a Member of the British Olympic Committee.
HRH came to visit Leighs Paints and Watsons Steel both of whom have been closely involved in the construction of the 2010 Olympic site in London. The Princess met members of each of the former family firms and spent time listening to numerous employees.
