Mrs Laura Nuttall OBE DL

Laura NuttallLaura is currently a Director of the Hargreaves Hamilton Group - a fourth generation family owned company which originally started in textile engineering after the first world war, but since the decline of the cotton industry has diversified into specialist engineering services, waste reclamation and leisure.

Since 1983 she has been involved in community work with Bolton Recreation Club, Newstalk (reading for the blind) and Bolton City Challenge amongst others, each of which concentrated on youth initiatives and regeneration projects working through government programmes. Laura also served on various boards for the business community including North Manchester Business Services Ltd., Mere Hall (Bolton) Ltd. and Bolton Strategic Partnership Sun Group.

Laura was Chairman of Bolton Lads and Girls Club whilst steered the largest lottery bid ever granted to a stand alone youth club through the grant system before putting up a building which is a flag ship for all such enterprises. She also oversaw the expansion of the club from annual fundraising targets of £200,000 to £1.3m; since her retirement she has become a Vice President of the Club.

Laura continues to be involved in the community and is a Trustee of Big Issue as well as continuing to help Newstalk, something she has done for the past twenty years.

Laura is married to Charles they have three children and are the proud grandparents of two little granddaughters.

Laura was appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant in 2002.
